AGE Multiplier Event, Romania, October 2023

On the 10th of October we had the pleasure to welcome many guests to the multiplier event of The Learning Age Erasmus+ project. Teachers and representatives of educational institutions from Constanta county, Romania met with senior members of AGIR Constanta to learn about the latest adult education techniques developed within Erasmus+ projects during the Erasmus+ days week.

The event started at 14.00 and after we welcomed the participants, Nicoleta Acomi from TEAM4Excellence had an opening speech together with Prof. Dr. Costel Stanca, Dean of the Navigation Faculty of the Constanta Maritime University, the host of the event. Nicoleta Acomi then spoke about the opportunities of the Erasmus programme and lifelong learning, with examples from the implementation of the AGE project. The results of the AGE project were explained, including the series of good practices implemented in the project site. Afterwards, the videos developed together with seniors in the AGE project were shown. Some of the seniors that TEAM4Excellence interviewed were present in the room and talked about their experience in working with the project partners. The videos were well received by the participants, who expressed their opinion in a feedback survey.

The group activity consisted of a debate on lifelong learning and intergenerational practices. We were curious to ask them about how we could create intergenerational activities with the support of local educational institutions to bring students and seniors together. In terms of the other questions, participants noted that the best practice is non-formal practice in a context that gives both young and seniors the opportunity to have open discussions and use technology creatively. They also noted that teachers together with NGOs can play an important role in intergenerational education, bringing students and seniors together to do media literacy activities. One of the ideas was also to integrate school counsellors in such activities to mediate possible misunderstandings between generations.
