On 6 June 2025, the GreenTravel Through Aerialverse International Symposium not only celebrated innovation in sustainability and digital transformation but also honoured the inclusive spirit of Erasmus+. A special section of the event was dedicated to Erasmus+ success stories, where we proudly demonstrated that Erasmus is for everyone—regardless of age, background, or previous experience in education.

Spotlight on Adult Education: Group Mobility for Seniors

One of the most heart-warming highlights was the presentation of our Adult Education programme, focusing on Group Mobility for Adults aged 60+. This initiative provided an enriching opportunity for senior citizens to travel to Shumen, Bulgaria, engage in cultural exchange, and actively participate in non-formal learning activities.

During the symposium, we presented a short documentary video showcasing the journey and experiences of the Romanian seniors who took part in this cross-border mobility programme. The video captured their enthusiasm, engagement, and the strong friendships built during the visit.

Erasmus+ is often associated with youth mobility, but its Adult Education sector continues to grow in relevance and impact. With an ageing population across Europe, programmes like this are not only timely but transformative, contributing to reducing social isolation among older adults, encouraging active citizenship and cross-cultural understanding, and promoting sustainability through generational dialogue.

By showcasing this experience at the symposium, we encouraged other educational institutions, VET providers, and NGOs to consider including senior citizens in future Erasmus+ actions. The positive feedback from the event reaffirmed the need to expand intergenerational mobility and integrate adult learners into the broader vision of a sustainable and inclusive Europe.
