Peer Coaching as a Sustainable Source of Professional Development
During the 25th and 31st of October, we participated in the Peer Coaching as a Sustainable Source of Professional Development course, which took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Objectives of the course:
- to prepare the participants to professionally lead a coaching session in the context of peer coaching;
- to have a substantial understanding of coaching framework and coaching models;
- to develop core coaching skills, including observation process, feedback, questioning, listening, raising awareness, establishing and maintaining an authentic relationship;
- to be able to design a coaching session with different coaching tools included.
Some of the topics discussed during the course:
- Relationship Awareness theory;
- Introduction to conflict: the 3 conflict styles, the conflict sequence, conflict triggers;
- Conflict model;
- Coaching principles;
- GROW coaching model in triads, reflection, feedback;
- Dilts model of personality;
- Planning follow-up activities, dissemination and implementation of learning outcomes.
Among the learning outcomes of the participants we can recapture:
- Exchanging good practices on peer coaching, and becoming acquainted with a variety of coaching tools such are drawings, coaching wheels and questionnaires;
- Discussion on a framework for peer coaching and practical activities to integrate these approaches in teaching and to develop skills of adult learners from disadvantaged groups;
- Participation in exercises on establishing a mentor relationship between participants and trainer. It follows a two-way communication process including discussions, interactive games, working in groups and pairs, presentations, case studies, thinking techniques and individual activities;
- The practice of experiential learning and workshops…
