Never Alone

Intergenerational learning activities

Never Alone is about “being together”: together even if it is a pandemic and the meetings are online, together for dignity at any age, together through volunteering and involvement, for a lasting impact on the lives of our elders.

The children from Marasesti took part in online activities with seniors to enjoy their quarantine days and not to feel alone during this period.

The positive part of the reorganization of the activities with the seniors was the fact that the staff of the Residential Center had to get involved with the students in the implementation of the activities.

In the online activities with the seniors of great help for carrying out the activities were the students from Marasesti who organized occupational therapy activities, making decorations for the seniors’ rooms and common spaces, woven, crocheted, play therapy activities: bingo, painting, drawing, dance, melotherapy or digital education workshop.

The children introduced their grandparents to the secrets of using a computer to keep in touch with their families. In addition, children and young people involved in the Never Alone activity helped the senior beneficiaries with creating accounts, but also with specific instructions for Skype calls, using the WhatsApp application, surfing the internet, sending emails and much more.

All these activities were carried out through the Zoom platform and with the total involvement of the socio-educational animator, the social worker and the psychologist from the residential center.
