Promoting AI for a Greener Future in Retail, September 2024

On 27th December 2024, our team joined the inspiring event hosted by Constanta Maritime University as part of the Researchers’ Night initiative, welcoming over 200 youth and 20 VET teachers. We proudly presented the INAir Project, an EU-funded initiative dedicated to integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into retail for sustainability and efficiency.

Participants learned about our research initiative under the INAir Project, which investigates multi-level AI skill needs and gaps for MSMEs in the retail sector. The curriculum produced focuses on the fundamentals of AI, exploring its applications in greening retailers, optimising resources, and streamlining processes. Attendees were introduced to the curriculum’s comprehensive approach to addressing the pressing need for AI adoption in retail.

The event was an incredible opportunity to engage youth and educators in discussions about the transformative potential of AI. Participants explored how AI can drive sustainability in retail by reducing waste, improving supply chain efficiency, and fostering greener business practices. The dialogue highlighted the importance of preparing the next generation for an AI-driven future, where innovation and sustainability go hand in hand.

Our participation in the event was really interesting. We not only promoted our AI skills development initiative, but also connected with many young people who are eager to make a positive impact. We look forward to continuing this work and reaching even more youth in the future.
