Music and mental health
On July 19, Team4Excellence and Roua Center organized a workshop focused on the combination between music and mental health. Iulia is the main author and she brought the activity to life. We started by introducing ourselves and the association. Iulia made us aware of the cultural contributions and influences of music over different periods as well as its benefits on mental health, whether psychological or cognitive. Finally we discovered different types of musical therapies relating to various pathologies, ranging from Parkinson’s to psychotherapy.
Then people listened to music from a Spotify playlist that we, the volunteers Iulia, Aglae, Lucie and Corentin, created for the occasion and described their emotional and sensory feelings. People have therefore sometimes expressed joy, a desire to dance, keep time or travel. One person also preferred to keep to herself what the music evoked for her.
The workshop concluded with this moment of sharing emotions, highlighting nostalgia for memories that resurfaced. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, they appreciated it a lot. One of the most impactful parts of the workshop was a panel discussion featuring individuals who have personally benefited from music experience.
