Promoting Blue Career eMentoring Programme, September 2022, Spain

On the 29th of September, Sea Teach promoted the results of the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership: BeBlue – Career Guidance in Blue Economy at a conference held in the Chamber of Commerce in Palma de Mallorca. The event was attended by teachers and trainers from local authorities and VET institutions, a total of 20 participants were in the audience whilst stakeholders along with the Sea Teach staff. The hosts presented the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership: Career Guidance in Blue Economy which represents a consortium of partners from the following countries:

Sea Teach showed the outputs and especially the newly developed Blue Career programme and Guide. The conference also aimed at increasing the awareness of advantages of mentoring programmes and to strengthen the cooperation between education institutions, authorities, VET institutions and the Blue Economy sector. They demonstrated how the results of the BeBlue project have been a product of close cooperation between the organisations and that all out puts are now available in four languages, English, Romanian, Spanish and Turkish.

Part of the conference was reserved for Blue Economy experts: In cooperation with BlueGeneration experts, different Blue Career experiences were elaborated and discussed, especially how to engage young people. Guest speaker Antonio Padron, an IMO Ambassador based in Malaga, contributed to this his vast experience of mentoring young people about careers in the Maritime Transport Sector and Celia Murcia, a young entrepreneur who has set up a special web platform for jobs in the Blue Economy, showed how to portray career opportunities.. All participants were then invited to join into the discussion and ask questions.

The conference was very well received and the participants confirmed the need for career advise in the Blue Economy. They were grateful for the tools provided by the BeBlue project and are planning to implement the online course and Career Maps with their students and in relevant VET institutions.
