Mentoring meeting, October 2023, Romania

On the last weekend of October, the volunteers of the TEAM4Excellence participated in an interactive mentoring meeting on-site, at the association office.

The point of the training was to contribute to the professional knowledge and personal growth of each participant, the mentoring activity consisting of a variety of games that aimed to make the volunteers connect with each other while learning something about themselves as well.

After everyone introduced themselves, one of the activities that made an impact was identifying stereotypes and automatic assumptions through a story read out loud by the mentor where the gender, status and age of the subjects were not clear. The story opened doors to a small debate where each participant learned where they stand.

Another activity that took part was an insight into the inner world: emotions. The volunteers split up in three teams and were challenged to write every emotion they would think of, after which they all learned an important lesson: the only three emotions are joy, anger and fear, everything else being mental constructs.

This mentoring session was crucial in the growth of the volunteers, as it was meant to encourage them to look inside themselves and become better, wiser and more prepared for the future activities taking place within the association.
