Youth as SDG Champions

On 19 November, TEAM4Excellence team hosted the Youth as SDG Champions event at the Constanta Maritime University, where young people and youth workers explored how the Sustainable Development Goals can inspire meaningful local action. The session opened with an interactive introduction to the Generation SDG project, outlining its mission, key results and the importance of youth involvement in shaping fair, inclusive and future-oriented communities.

Participants were then guided through the SDG learning modules, which combines videos, worksheets, presentations and quizzes, followed by examples of how the course helps learners understand, analyse and apply each goal in their own contexts. Attendees also reviewed the Youth Action and Participation Toolkit, learning how young people can use practical methods to influence community development and advocate for sustainability. The presentation also highlighted the outcomes of a recent workshop where young people created mind-maps for different SDGs, proposing actions such as promoting mental-health support, gender-equality initiatives, climate-focused volunteering and waste-reduction practices.

The event inspired attendees to reflect on how youth-led actions can improve their communities. By the end of the session, participants expressed increased motivation to engage in SDG-related activities and to act as advocates for sustainable development.
