Insights from "Fundraising Internationally", June 2022, Poland

At the end of June 2022, our trainers and youth workers participated in the “Fundraising Internationally” Erasmus+ mobility. The mobility was hosted by the project coordinators, “No Shame” Foundation from Poland and benefited from participation of TEAM4Excellence, Romania, and SOPRO, Portugal. The “Fundraising Internationally” project aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to become effective fundraisers.

During the workshop, the participants explored the specifics of fundraisers’ work, including the difference between fundraising and sponsoring. They learned about effective fundraising methods, such as using social media, organizing events, and creating compelling stories that resonate with donors.

During activities, it was pointed out that successful fundraisers should be excellent communicators, able to convey their message clearly and convincingly to potential donors. They should be skilled at building relationships, able to connect with people and inspire them to support the cause. Furthermore, a successful fundraiser must be a strategic thinker, able to develop and implement effective fundraising plans that meet the organization’s objectives.

Fundraisers also have a responsibility to uphold ethical standards in their work. A code of ethics is essential for fundraising professionals to ensure transparency, integrity, and accountability in all their dealings. It helps to build trust and credibility with donors and ensures that the funds raised are used for the intended purpose.

The project has been an intensive and enriching experience for the participants, who have gained valuable insights into the world of fundraising. The next part of the training will take place in Romania, and the participants are excited to continue their learning journey. Stay tuned for more updates on their progress!
