Financial Education
We divided students into households. We gave each group a different monthly income for paying bills and rent. To increase their interest, we told them to choose a goal they wanted to save money for (going to the cinema, buying a book, etc.). To prepare their weekly grocery list, they were given supermarket’s magazines and a flipchart paper to write on.
For some of the groups, the activity was really easy, as their household had more money than others. Still, they learned about the importance of planning and prioritising expenses, and how having a budget can help you reach your goals.
