Electrification of fossil fuel uses

This week, volunteers facilitated an engaging workshop in Mihai Eminescu National College, Liceul CFR and Scoala Gimnaziala Nr.30 Gheorghe Titeica on the topic of electrification of fossil fuel uses. The main objective was to raise awareness among students about the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition while making the learning interactive and engaging.

To begin, the workshop start with a comprehensive presentation where volunteers discussed various energy sources used in different sectors: transportation, industry and households. This section helped students understand the opportunities and challenges of electrifying uses. In addition, it allowed them to learn about the different technologies that carry the hope of reducing the carbon footprint of our societies. More broadly, this was an opportunity to define some terms such as the coefficient of performance or the principle of energy density.

During the workshop, the discussion highlighted the challenges of the energy transition, including high infrastructure costs, the intermittency of renewable energy sources, and the need for advanced storage technologies. Then the second part of the workshop was a fun and competitive Kahoot quiz. Students had the chance to test their newly acquired knowledge while having fun. This interactive approach helped reinforce learning in a dynamic way.

To conclude, the feedback from the students was extremely positive. They appreciated the originality of the workshop and the balance between theoretical information and active participation. This event succeeded in raising awareness among students about electrification. The workshop not only transmitted essential knowledge about the energy transition, but also sparked curiosity and engagement among the students, preparing them to think about solutions to face the challenges.
