Captain of your own ship

Team4Excellence, together with RoUa Center, conducted a workshop on July 19 with the main objective of presenting the methods of operation, communication, and prevention of ship collision.

During the workshop titled “Captain of your own ship,” participants had the opportunity to explore several critical aspects of maritime operations. They discovered the Nautical Alphabet, an essential tool used by navigators for communication between ships and between ships and coastal radio stations. Understanding this alphabet is crucial for ensuring clear and effective communication at sea.

The workshop also provided an in-depth look at the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs). Participants learned about the specific rules and guidelines outlined in COLREGs, focusing on their practical application to prevent maritime incidents. This included understanding right-of-way rules, signals, and navigational lights.

Participants had a very positive opinion of this workshop, finding it extremely useful and informative. They particularly appreciated the clarity of the presented information and its relevance to maritime safety and navigation efficiency. Overall, the workshop was highly valued for its comprehensive coverage of essential maritime communication and safety practices.
