Căpitan pe nava viitorului, 3rd edition

The Maritime University of Constanta, along with its partners (including us! ?) organized, in November, the well known event Căpitan pe nava viitorului!, third edition. It is an event that brings together high school students who want to learn the art of sailing and 1st and 2nd year students from the Faculty of Sailing. We welcomed 48 participants from high schools and 13 from the Maritime University.

We, as partners, promoted blue careers. This year we invited students from 7 high schools:

1. Carol I Commercial College
2. Mihai Eminescu National College
3. Theoretical High School “Ioan Cotovu” Hârșova
4. High School “Technologic” Topraisar
5. Technological High School “Virgil Madgearu” Constanta
6. C.A Rosetti” Technological High School Constanta
7. Dimitrie Leonida Technological High School

For 3 hours, under the coordination of teachers from the navigation department, the pupils, together with the students: drove virtual ships in navigation simulators, participated in loading and unloading of oil tankers, familiarized themselves with navigation instruments: navigation ladders, sextant learned about the careers in the blue industry and showed that they can form successful crews. Participants also responded to the survey to pilot the job cards developed within the project Be-Blue.
The winners were chosen through a competition in which participants answered a set of 8 questions in the maritime field. Special prizes were awarded to competitors who safely piloted the virtual ship in the port of Constanta.
The awarding of diplomas and the presentation of prizes is a sign of recognition of leadership skills but also an extra reason to come back with fresh strength for the next edition.
