Train the young generation in maritime economics, May 2023, Romania

In May 2023, two representatives from TEAM4Excellence delivered training sessions to the young generation of learners from Constanta city. They provided training in the maritime field and promoted the results of the Blue Generation project.

The trainer, specialized in maritime transport with 10+ year experience onboard vessels and Daria Barbu, project assistant at TEAM4Excellence, discussed with participants about the benefits of a career in the maritime field, training opportunities and jobs available on the Blue Generation Platform. Participants have been introduced into the shipping world, explored the multiple paths that someone may have following a career ashore or onboard vessels, and visited the websites of several employers. By scanning the QR codes available on the received flyers, participants enrolled the Blue Generation platform.

As planned, the training started with an overview of the blue economy sectors, continued with the presentation of Blue Generation platform and Career guide. Participants learned about the type of vessels, the types of jobs as well as the tasks and responsibilities of employees. In particular, the participants showed great interest on the career progress, asking more about the trainer career path. Students were curious to know more about their time at sea depending on the job, opportunities in mechanics and tourism and the countries they might go to. They were also interested in piloting the job search platform implemented by Blue Generation partners, the Blue Careers Platform. We also discussed were work experience and advancement to other higher positions, the income that young people can earn from such a career in the navy and local career training opportunities offered by the training centres in Constanta.
