Train the young generation, May 2023, Romania

In May 2023, representatives from TEAM4Excellence provided the training course “Introduction into shipping” to the youth selected from Constanta area, offering a new perspective on sailing and blue economy careers. During the training sessions, our staff promoted the results of the Blue Generation project and helped the young generation to understand the main steps for following a career in the blue industry.

The trainer, specialized in maritime transport with 10+ year experience onboard vessels and Daria Barbu, project assistant at TEAM4Excellence, discussed with participants about the benefits of a career in the maritime field, training opportunities and jobs available on the Blue Generation Platform. Participants have been introduced into the shipping world, explored the multiple paths that someone may have following a career ashore or onboard vessels, and visited the websites of several employers. By scanning the QR codes available on the received flyers, participants enrolled the Blue Generation platform. This way, they are fully aware of the project scope and results and are able to navigate on the online training platform.

As a course of action, the training started with an overview of the blue economy sectors, continued with the presentation of Blue Generation platform and Career guide. Participants learned about the type of vessels, the types of jobs as well as the tasks and responsibilities of employees. In particular, they showed a great interest on training and career opportunities in tourism. Therefore, the facilitators navigated with students on the Blue Generation platform to present these opportunities available in many European countries. They were also interested in exploring the job search platform implemented by Blue Generation partners, the Blue Careers Platform.
