Captain on the ship of the future, April 2023, Romania

On Friday 7 April 2023, our mentors met VET and high school learners and guided them toward a career in blue industry. 58 young people passionate about sailing were welcomed by the Maritime University of Constanta, and participated in the competition “Captain on the ship of the future”, the fifth edition, coordinated by Mrs. Prof. Dr. Ing Nicoleta Acomi, Prodecan of Faculty of Navigation. With the support of their tutors from the Faculty of Navigation and Waterborne Transport, they had to create a navigation route, using electronic and paper charts, they sailed virtual ships in navigation simulators, participated in the loading-unloading operations of oil tankers and showed that they can form successful crews!
The naming of the winning crews, the awarding of diplomas and the presentation of prizes are a sign of recognition of their leadership skills but also an extra reason to come back with fresh strength for the next edition.
It was the last day of the marathon event “Open Week at UMC, 3-7 April 2023”, where we proudly promoted the blue career opportunities to more than 600 young people from Constanta, Slobozia and the metropolitan area.
Even though the event is over, the Maritime University of Constanta will still welcome visits from all those passionate about the maritime field.
