BeBlue Career Planning, Turkey, September 2022

On the 21st of September, Osmaniye Provincial National Education of the Directorate organised the Career Planning event as part of the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership: Career Guidance in Blue Economy​ in Osmaniye, Turkey. The event was attended by 23 participants from four VET organisations and schools:

• Yavuz Sultan Selim Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu lisesi Lisesi
• Osmaniye Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Meslek Lisesi
• Mehmet Akif Ersoy Mesleki Ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi

At the beginning, participants were presented the Erasmus+ values and the results of the BeBlue project which aims to promote blue careers and training opportunities to increase and upskill the workforce. Partners from Romania – TEAM4Excellence, Spain – Sea Teach and Turkey – Osmaniye İl Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü developed within the project an online training course which is available on our platform in all languages (English, Romanian, Spanish and Turkish) and contains valuable information about the sectors of the Blue Economy.

The event activity was based on guiding the participants towards designing a career plan according to their personal interests and skills. Students used the SWOT analysis criteria to better assess their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats about their professional desires. Students of VET organisations have built their career plans, taking into account the benefits that the blue economy brings among young people and they said that this workshop made them use their introspection and look for training opportunities towards their area of interest. At the end, the participants together with the facilitator concluded that the career plan should be promoted more among young people and that they need early career counselling, mentoring and training to become professionals.
