Empowering Educators with AI

On 6 June 2025, during the GreenTravel Through Aerialverse International Symposium held in Constanța, Romania, over 25 youth workers and VET (Vocational Education and Training) teachers joined a transformative experience centred around digital innovation and sustainable education. A key highlight of the event was the introduction of the European initiative “Artificial Intelligence for Youth Work“, which aims to strengthen AI competences in the field of non-formal education.

During a dedicated session, participants were introduced to the Digital Catalogue of AI Educational Resources—a pilot tool designed to empower youth workers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to integrate Artificial Intelligence into their educational practices. The catalogue is the result of comprehensive international research, involving over 70 youth workers from Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Romania, who helped identify the core AI competence needs in the youth sector.

The Digital Catalogue is grounded in an innovative AI Competence Framework for Youth Workers, offering tailored Open Educational Resources (OERs) to support the development of digital literacy, ethical understanding, practical AI application, and critical thinking among both educators and the young people they work with.

As part of the pilot phase, participants were invited to explore and complete at least three Open Educational Resources (OERs) on the platform, and to fill out an evaluation questionnaire to provide feedback on the clarity, usefulness, inclusivity, and overall effectiveness of the resources.

Their insights will directly contribute to refining the resources before public release, ensuring they are inclusive, practical, and impactful.

We are proud to share that more than 25 youth workers and VET educators took part in the pilot phase during the symposium. Their participation brought a rich diversity of perspectives and constructive feedback that will significantly enhance the final version of the catalogue.

This collaborative effort reaffirms the potential of AI in education, not as a replacement for human connection, but as a powerful tool for innovation and empowerment in youth work.
